Historical EVents
The Han Dynasty began in 206 B.C. when Liu Bang, a Qin general, overthrew the Qin Empire. China began to expand during the Han Dynasty towards Vietnam, Korea, and the Gobi Desert. In 191 B.C. the law prohibiting books created during the Chin dynasty was lifted and in 155 B.C. Emperor Wu Ti developed a library of old books that were hidden by the people from the Chin. In 140 B.C. the Han Dynasty created the Chinese civil service system. Emperor Liu Ch'e began using a leveling system where the government would control prices to keep the economy balanced for farming. Liu Ch'e also created many military installations to keep China in peaceful and protected. China fought multiple battles with nomadic people in central Asia to keep the Han empire protected. While China was in peace the idea of a new trade route came into thought. This trade route was called the Silk Road. The Silk Road was located in China, across Central Asia, and into the Mediterranean. Merchants brought many things to and from China. Camels carried jade, silk, grain, rice, and other assortments to Roman and Greek empires and returned with silver, wool, gold, and more. The Chinese invention of paper was and is something so great that in today's society we still use it daily. The Han dynasty ruled for well over 400 years, until 220 A.D., when the last Han emperor fell.
